Liposuction Clinics Or Hospitals | Which Are Better
The number of liposuction procedures is growing all the time. It is becoming an increasingly popular choice for many people. Statistics show that as many as 300,000 people in the United States undertook the treatment. And don’t forget that that was the year of the recession. There is no doubt about it that liposuction has been and is expected to remain as the most popular form of cosmetic surgery in the United States. But it is not only popular in the US. It is also similarly popular across the World, including Europe, South East Asia and South America. It is no wonder therefore that the number of liposuction clinics has risen to reflect the demand for the procedure.
One of the principal reasons why liposuction, which is sometimes called lipoplasty or suction lipectomy, is so popular is that as surgical procedures go it is not particularly invasive and as a result is not particularly traumatic to undergo. Indeed there are many other forms of cosmetic surgery which are far less pleasant to experience. In effect the procedure involves using tiny needles which are called cannulas which when attached to a vaccum device breaks up the fat located between the skin and the muscle and sucks it out. There is no need for a general anesthetic, usually local anesthetic is perfectly sufficient.
The choice of where you have your liposuction procedure carried out depends to a large extent on the surgeon and the liposuction clinics facitilies. In the event that the liposuction clinic has insufficient space to house all the necessary equipment it may well be that the local hospital is a preferred location for the procedure to be carried out. In these cases it is often the case that the surgeon has an arrangement with the hospital for renting rooms, a surgery or an operating theater.
There are of course advantages and disadvantages to both locations. Many patients simply do not feel comfortable undergoing a surgical procedure anywhere except in a hospital, where as at least as many others like the more friendly and personable atmosphere that liposuction clinics are able to deliver. For this reason many surgeons will allow the patient to make a choice, although the location is perhaps a less important factor in the decision than whether or not the person undertaking the procedure is properly qualified. For this reason if you prefer a liposuction clinic to be the place to have your surgery then make sure that the person who will carry it out is properly qualified. Better to pick the right surgeon and the wrong location than the right location but the wrong surgeon.
